* Mar. 6, 2009. Swim START Seeding Available.  Starting order is the same as your bib number. Bibs 1-238 will start at 7:00:00 spaced 5s apart. At or around 7:30 the transition area will re-open for approximately 20 minutes before bibs 239-430 start spaced 5s apart beginning at 7:50:00 exactly. If you miss your start time you will be permitted to start after all other competitors have begun at approximately 8:10.

• Feb. 9, 2009. Calling all Volunteers! [PDF] Volunteers are now being recruited for this year's event. If you're interested, contact us and let us know when you're coming. A free light breakfast will be served!

• Jan. 25, 2009. Sponsor Challenge Announced. A new IronBruin race category in which representatives from each event sponsor compete. The fastest sponsor racer wins the first-ever “IronBruin TROPHY” and bragging rights. Sponsor racers are to wear racing attire with their logos from head to toe and race hard! Priority seeding for these athletes so they can get to their expo booths sooner! Interested sponsors should contact DeAnna Steiger at sponsorship@ironbruin.com for an entry form.

• Jan. 12, 2009. 5th Annual IronBruin Triathlon Official Race Announcement

• Nov. 1, 2008. Course changes for 2009 include a time-trial start (competitors leaving every 5-10 seconds with a snake-swim course in the pool. After 8 laps of 50m each, the bike ride still includes 4 complete laps. The run course will be augmented to be a full 3.10 miles by adding an extra loop around Dickson Plaza in the second mile of the run.

Event Summary

Introducing a TIME TRIAL START, and in REGULAR order:
Swim - 400 meters (8 laps of 50m)
Bike - 13.5 miles (4.1 laps of 3.3 miles)
Run - 5.00 kilometers (1 lap of 3.1 miles)

Chip timing will be provided to ensure time-trial start accuracy by Paul Williams of SB Timing.

SATURDAY MARCH 7, 2009 – Recommended PACKET PICKUP at Triathlete Zombies in Santa Monica 1-5pm (map). You will pick up your number, receive your t-shirt, goodie bag, and your timing chip. Please try to pick up your race materials to avoid race morning rush of registration.

ALL REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS please check your email the weeks leading up to the event for last minute race details. We thank you all for your ongoing support of our race – we are looking forward to a great event and excellent weather**!

*Daylight savings begins March 8th. Set your clocks ahead BEFORE race morning!
