Swim 400m (3.5 laps): Consists of 7 heats, each starting every 10 minutes starting at 7:00am sharp. Participants will make 3 complete counter-clockwise loops, and then continue about another half a lap to the exit. All participants must finish the complete swim, regardless of another wave starting behind them. This policy has been changed, so please take note. Again, all participants must complete 3.5 laps around the pool.
Bike 13.5mi (4 full laps):
Entrants will leave T1 and turn down the hill (De Neve Drive). Stay to the right since there will be slower & faster rides all over the course. Make 4 complete laps, and then proceed to T2 approximately another quarter mile.
Run 2.75mi:
Exits T2 on the SE gate of the IM field and proceeds east on Bruin Walk. Upon reaching Bruin plaza, runners will turn to the right and meet up with the bike course, where they will run on the inside of the loop all the way around until the entrance to PS 4 where they will divert to run into the finish line. All runners must yield to bikers in any case that this boundary is ambiguous.
TWO TRANSITION LOGISTICS:
This years course will have two transition areas. When you arrive please claim your spot in T2 in the IM by placing your run shoes and any other personal belongings (first come first serve). After you have completed checking in you should head up to Sunset Recreation where the first swim wave will start at 7am. Please only bring only the items necessary for swimming and biking (bike shoes, bike helmet, goggles, cap) and warm clothes. When you exit the pool to begin the bike portion of the race please make sure all of your belonging are enclosed in the plastic bad (will be provided) and labeled with your race number. If you finish the race before 9am you may head up to Sunset to obtain your belongs. After 9am we will be cleaning up T1 and your belongings will be delivered to you on the IM field.
